Borealis employs over 50 people in Toronto, Canada, and London, UK, approximately half of whom are investment professionals. The Borealis investment team is made up of a diverse group of individuals reflecting a wide range of expertise, including accountants, engineers, lawyers and finance professionals.

President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Rolland began his career with an international accounting firm before joining a large investment banking group to develop creative financing structures in the public sector. He took over the leadership of the corporate and structured financing practice at a private financial advisory firm, where he originated and negotiated business and financial opportunities for corporate and institutional clients.
In 1998, Mr. Rolland joined Borealis where he has originated, structured and managed many complex investments. Deal making and team leadership characterize his management style. Mr. Rolland was appointed president and CEO of Borealis in March 2007 and ensures that senior management maintains strong and open relationships with asset operators and investment partners.

Executive Vice President
Mr. Byers joined Borealis in January 2008 and is responsible for leading Borealis' capital raise efforts in conjunction with OMERS Strategic Investments. With 16 years’ experience in investment banking with BMO Capital Markets, he has transaction and advisory experience on infrastructure investments as diverse as Toronto’s international airport, a major toll highway, and assets owned by federal government corporations in such sectors as civil air navigation service, postal service, passenger rail service and atomic energy. His background includes service with the Minister of Finance in Ottawa.

Executive Vice President
In April, 2011, Mr. Knowlton assumed joint responsibility for managing the Borealis transaction team. Since joining Borealis in 2005, Mr. Knowlton led the company's legal team and participated in leading a number of investment transactions. A former associate at Torys LLP, one of Canada's leading law firms, former senior legal counsel at Bombardier Transportation and through his experience at Borealis, Mr. Knowlton has considerable experience in structuring international infrastructure projects, negotiating and closing investment transactions.

Executive Vice President
Mr. McManus began his career with an international accounting firm before working with several successful entrepreneurs on business development, financings and venture capital investments. He joined Borealis in 2001 and is jointly responsible for managing the Borealis transaction team heading up our UK office in London. Mr. McManus’ experience covers investments ranging from nuclear power to satellite technology.

Executive Vice President
Mr. Ranger joined Borealis in 2004 and his past experience includes 17 years as a senior executive with one of Canada’s largest broadcast companies and 5 years with a large international accounting firm. He is responsible for leading and managing the Borealis transaction team heading up our recently opened US office in New York. Mr. Ranger has extensive experience in structuring multi-layered investment structures in different regulatory and tax jurisdictions and has actively participated in a number of Borealis's acquisitions and asset management activities.

Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Sagoo joined Borealis in 2003 and is responsible for overseeing all information valuations and financial reporting for Borealis investments, including multi-layered structures in different regulatory and tax jurisdictions. She began her career as an auditor with an international accounting firm focusing on pension funds and real estate company clients.

Senior Vice President & General Counsel
Mr. Kelly leads a four person legal team that participates in the due diligence for all transactions and is fully versed in the regulatory, tax and ownership issues of various investment structures in multiple jurisdictions. Mr. Kelly began his career practicing law at major law firms in Toronto, London (UK) and Ottawa, where he gained experience in a broad range of corporate and commercial transactions and regulatory law. Prior to joining Borealis in 2006, Mr. Kelly held the position of Assistant Vice President and Senior Counsel with Manulife Financial.

Senior Vice President
Mr. Zucchet spent the first seven years of his career with an international consulting firm advising on transportation- and energy-related projects. Prior to joining Borealis in 2003, Mr. Zucchet held the position of Chief Operating Officer of Enwave District Energy and was responsible for Enwave’s overall operations and major infrastructure projects.

Mr. Sherman spent the first six years of his career with leading Canadian and U.S. investment banks where he advised on over 20 M&A transactions and executed on numerous financings in the energy and transportation industries. He joined Borealis in 2003.

Senior Vice President – Global Research & Credit
Prior to joining Borealis in 2008, Mr. Calder spent 10 years with Standard & Poor in their infrastructure practice group, evaluating toll road facilities, airports, P3 projects, general transportation assets and public finance. At Borealis, Mr. Calder is responsible for credit, research and analytical support.

Prior to joining Borealis in 2002, Mr. Bloemen gained asset management experience at OMERS Realty Corporation and at major financial institutions. Mr. Bloemen also managed major infrastructure and building projects with Dillingham Construction and PCL Constructors.

Vice President
Mr. Busslinger joined Borealis in January 2009 and is based in the London office. Prior to joining Borealis, Mr. Busslinger was an Executive Director with Goldman Sachs where he spent seven years advising clients in M&A transactions across Europe. Previously he spent two years with McKinsey & Company as an analyst.

Prior to joining Borealis in 2002, Mr. Deutschmann gained over 15 years’ experience in property development and asset management at Oxford Properties Group, Bramalea Limited and TD Bank.

Vice President
Mr. Evangelista has over 13 years of government experience and was a senior advisor to two federal Cabinet Ministers and Prime Minister Jean Chrétien. Mr. Evangelista played a key government role in the Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Project, the Toronto 2008 Olympic Bid and various provincial infrastructure programs. Mr. Evangelista joined Borealis in 2003 and is responsible for government relations.

Mr. Holland joined Borealis in September 2011. Prior to joining Borealis, Mr. Holland was a Vice President at Macquarie Capital Markets Ltd where he spent 6 years advising clients within M&A transactions, infrastructure and Power & Utilities. Previously he spent 5 years with CIBC as a Senior Business Advisor within Small Business Banking.

Vice President – Legal
Prior to joining Borealis, Mr. Guccione was a member of the energy and infrastructure group at Linklaters LLP in London (UK) and the corporate group at Torys LLP in Toronto. Mr. Guccione has experience advising on a broad range of corporate, energy, infrastructure and financing matters.

Ms. Hewat joined Borealis in 2011 and is responsible for managing our human resources area including recruitment, leadership, development, succession and employee relations. Vice President – Legal
Prior to joining Borealis in 2009, Mr. Manias practiced corporate law for seven years at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault LLP in Boston and Torys LLP in Toronto. Mr. Manias’ practice focused on private equity as a senior corporate associate.

Mr. Murphy has over 11 years of government and consulting experience and was most recently a senior manager in the Ontario Government where he led the development of 20,000 new long-term care facility beds. Prior to joining Borealis in 2002, Mr. Woods gained over 20 years of asset management experience with leading real estate companies. At Borealis, Mr. Woods is responsible for the analysis, review, monitoring and management of investments and various projects within the Municipalities, Universities, School Board and Hospital sector.

Mr. Crane joined Borealis’ New York office in January 2012 and is responsible for focusing on investment opportunities in the US, Central and South America. He has 10 years of investment banking experience covering the US, Central and Latin America infrastructure markets with a focus on transportation, energy and social infrastructure.

Vice President, Operational Services
Ms. Bradburn joined Borealis in January 2012 and is responsible for leading our Operational Services team responsible for administration management, information technology, facilities, records management and payroll services. Lenna began her career in policing and has extensive executive-level experience in the public sector, at the provincial and municipal levels, in strategic leadership, change management and administration.

Senior Strategic Advisor
Ms. Sylvain joined Borealis’ in January 2012 on a 2 year secondment from Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada and is responsible for providing strategic solutions as pertains to emerging markets and opportunities outside of Borealis’ current geographic expertise. She has over 25 years of Canadian and international experience in the fields of foreign affairs and international trade, policy development, program management, public affairs and large scale project management.
