Borealis Infrastructure acts as the infrastructure investment arm of OMERS. Its mission is to actively invest in and manage infrastructure assets on behalf of OMERS in order to maximize long-term, risk-adjusted returns on such assets.
In executing this mission, Borealis acts to satisfy the mission of OMERS itself, which is to secure and deliver the pension promise to all members and beneficiaries of the OMERS pension plan. Borealis believes that the OMERS mission is best achieved by creating what is referred to as “surplus wealth”, or investment returns on its assets in excess of current actuarial return targets.
